History
The Michael Brownstein ’99 Memorial Gap Year Fellowship was founded in 2007 in partnership with Harvard-Westlake School to honor the memory of Michael Brownstein by offering deserving young adults the opportunity to pursue a “gap year” between high school and college.
While we will continue to provide “gap-year” funding for one H-W student as we have in the past, our community partnership with the Fulfillment Fund will expand the reach of our contribution to include as many as five first-generation, low income students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. This means a greater impact for a greater number of young adults than ever before.
It has always been our hope to expand the scope of this program and through this partnership, as well as your generous support, The Michael Brownstein Foundation will honor Michael’s memory by changing lives for years to come.

The Fulfillment Fund
As a college access organization, the Fulfillment Fund provides first-generation, low-income students with the support necessary to graduate from high school and go on to college.
Through classroom instruction, college counseling, mentoring and scholarships, we transform the lives of students, beginning in high school and extending to college graduation.
Our impact spans beyond the students we serve directly. They, in turn, influence siblings, peers and their community by becoming role models, volunteers, mentors and donors. Learn more at www.fulfillment.org
